Find ‘Salvation’ From Economic Gloom With Apple (AAPL)

Oct 28th, 2008 | By Irwin Greenstein | Category: Stock Market Investing

People have an insatiable need to be heard these days, says Irwin Greenstein, writing exclusively for Contrarian Profits. And cyperspace provides the perfect medium. Irwin say there is no better way to cash in on this phenomenon than with Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq:AAPL).

The high-tech market is essentially divided into two sectors: commercial and consumer. One of them provides customers with an enlightened path to the meaning of life, while the other helps companies make money.

As our world becomes more obsessed with self-expression, I’ll stake my money on the meaning-of-life segment.

When it comes to tech, finding the meaning of life takes several paths. The ideal path is one of pure research into religious and ethical questions that help people define their goals, personality and place in the universe.

Then there’s the other path: adults and precocious kids with crib-bound minds afraid to be alone, self-professed victims of every little slight that throws them into a digital tantrum. And this is the path where you’ll find the most profits.

In short, it’s this insatiable need to be heard - regardless of whether your message is relevant, intelligent or accurate - that will drive the most profits.

For investors, the most obvious choice for cashing in on this phenomenon is Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq:AAPL).

Right now, the stock is trading in the $94 range, significantly down from its 52-week high of $202.96.

Apple’s iPhone and iPods are the digital totems for the new generation of pilgrims seeking answers in cyberspace to the meaning of life. They seek answers in music, texting, blogs, social networking - all in an effort to speak out and be heard in hoards of digital tribes that can make wireless carriers and handset makers filthy rich.

For example…

On Oct. 21, Apple posted a 26% surge in Q3 profit as iPhone sales topped estimates. Apple sold 6.89 million iPhones in the quarter, reaching the company’s goal of selling 10 million handsets three months ahead of schedule.

About 11,052,000 iPods were shipped during the quarter, an increase of 8% over the same period the previous year.

As an expression of our society today, Apple is the demigod for current and future generations of smart people who love too much.

If I were you, I’d forget about the economy and jump into Apple now. Salvation hasn’t been this cheap in a while.
