I think this is a quick fix to save Detroit's big 3 but it does not help the US economy because all the union workers who will go with out a job. Now I will say I am far from being a pro union guy, well at least regarding modern day union's which promote mass inefficiencies, which are in part to blame for the falling auto industry. but this does nothing for me as a tax payer who will then have to pay the unemployment and pensions for these workers. I know Detroit's back is against the wall, but perhaps they can restructure and re-brand. they could use the triple bottom line concept that www.e3bank.com embodies to rebuild Detroit's big 3. With an industry of this size, big bucks could be saved by going green, not to mention the shift in the auto industry is already headed in that direction with hybrid cars. use a little creativity and the sky is the limit. but we need to break away from unions or at least limit union power so we are able to operate more efficiently.
