Gold Edges Up, but Silver Hammered Again

Gold was flat until just before New York trading opened yesterday, when it suddenly shot northward by $25, a gain which was all given back by 1:00, after which some late-day buying pushed the metal back into the black and a finish at $802.90, up $8.20. For the week, gold lost 3.3%.

Gold fell below $785 in Hong Kong, but that was the low for the day, as it rolled up and down around $790 in London then really took off as London closed halfway through the NYMEX, shooting straight up to finish just off its intraday at $813.70, up $15.00. Overnight, gold is little changed.



Blood in the Streets

Gold was in the black until the second hour of the New York session yesterday, when it began to slowly decline, then fell off a cliff just before noon, dropping nearly $35 in an hour on its way to a finish at $823.00, down $32.50. Overnight, gold has slipped lower.
