Buy Oversold Nortel (NT) for a Short-Term Bounce

Right before yesterday afternoon’s spectacular rally in US stocks, Andrew Snyder recommended investors buy oversold shares. In particular, he said Nortel (NYSE:NT), which was down 45% since the start of the week, didn’t merit the plunge and was due a short-term bounce. NT today is up by only a fraction of a percent. This means there’s time to get in on this trade.

Wall Street is in deep, deep hole. Lehman Brothers (NYSE:LEH) is in Chapter 11 and AIG (NSYE:AIG), the biggest insurers in the country, is not far behind. It needs a loan of $75 billion to stay alive. Meanwhile, the country’s biggest savings and loan bank WaMu (NYSE:WM) has a junk credit rating.

You can be sure of one thing: This crisis has a ways to run yet.
