The bigger board resource stocks continued to ascend to higher levels but the more junior exploration stocks fell victim to a lack of buyers during Monday’s session on the Canadian Markets. For the tale of the tape, the TSX Exchange added 0.84%, while the TSX Gold Index tacked on 0.4% and the TSX Venture Exchange, Canada’s largest junior exploration bourse, lost 0.54% with the decliners edging out the advancers by a 443 to 342 margin on 161 million shares traded.

News that construction spending in the United States rose 0.3 per cent in March sent investors into a buying frenzy during Monday trading on the Canadian Markets. For the tale of the tape, the TSX Exchange surged 3.93%, while the TSX Gold Index added 4.7% and the TSX Venture Exchange, Canada’s largest junior exploration bourse, tacked on 1.68% with the advancers beating out the decliners by a 528 to 362 margin on good volumes of 210 million shares traded.

Despite another increase in the unemployment numbers in the United States, the Canadian Markets continued to rally during Thursday’s session. For the tale of the tape, the TSX Exchange climbed 1.40%, while the TSX Gold Index tacked on 2.4% and the TSX Venture Exchange, Canada’s largest junior exploration bourse, added 0.90% with the advancers beating out the decliners by a 402 to 312 margin on volume of 147 million shares traded.

The Canadian markets managed to rally during Monday trading on the Canadian Markets as commodity prices showed some signs of life to start the trading week. For the tale of the tape, the TSX Exchange added 5.52%, while the TSX Gold Index surged 6.2% and the TSX Venture Exchange, Canada’s largest junior exploration bourse, rallied 1.94% with the advancing issuers inching past the decliners by a 390 to 366 margin on volume of 171 million shares traded.
