It’s clear to at least some that banks can’t subsidize the banks forever. So where does that leave bank share prices? It’s a valid question, even if it can’t be heard right now over the din of champagne corks popping and the chorus of Hallelujahs wafting up over Wall Street and the White House.

It’s Monday morning. The world economy is calling in sick. A Bloomberg report confirms last week’s news: the US economy lost more jobs last year than at any time since the end of WWII.. The jobless rate is now at a 16-year high.

With gross domestic product plummeting and the jobless rate at a 14-year high, U.S. policymakers will have to author at least one more stimulus package in the months to come if they are to elbow aside the impact of high unemployment and depressed consumers.
