The base metals were mixed on Thursday. Copper sank during the pre-dawn hours but took off during the first hour of New York trading, before easing later in the day and finishing at $3.8466/lb., up 2¼ cents.

The base metals were nearly all in the black on Monday. Copper was up from the open through to the noon hour, after which it traded sideways and finished at $3.7982/lb., up less than 2 cents.

The base metals were all in the red on Thursday. Copper backed down for a second straight day, dropping from the pre-dawn hours to late morning, after which it recovered slightly to finish at $3.844/lb., down 4¾ cents.
