These kind of investments are “non-correlated” because they move independently of the overall market. But they can be tricky to locate, and even harder to trust.

Gas prices hit another record high. Soaring food prices ignite riots the world over. It should come as no surprise that a 71% increase in food prices since 2006 has the good citizens of South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Mozambique up in arms.

In the energy market Thursday, crude for July delivery retreated, closing at $126.62/barrel, down $4.41. June reformulated gasoline lost 5 cents, to $3.40/gallon.

Could someone notify our clueless congresscritters? Fresh data from the U.S. Department of Energy show the amount of petroleum products shipped by the world’s top oil exporters fell 2.5% last year, despite a 57% increase in prices, a trend that appears to be holding true this year as well.
