Investors heading for the exits ahead of the Canada Day holiday as a sea of red engulfed the Canadian Markets during Tuesday’s session. For the tale of the tape, the TSX Exchange down 0.97%, while the TSX Gold Index fell 2.8% and the TSX Venture Exchange, Canada’s largest junior exploration bourse, lost 1.23% with the decliners edging out the advancers by a 413 to 361 margin on 151 million shares traded.

The broader bourse remained in neutral during Wednesday trading on the Canadian markets, as investors elect to wait for more economic news before laying down big bets. For the tale of the tape, the TSX Exchange added a modest 0.16%, while the TSX Gold Index rallied 0.20% and the TSX Venture Exchange, Canada’s largest junior exploration bourse, tacked on 1.13%, with the advancers edging out the decliners by a 408 to 367 margin on volume of 152 million shares traded.

After another strong bout of buying, investors elected to book some profits during Tuesday trading on the Canadian markets. For the tale of the tape, the TSX Exchange fell 0.58%, while the TSX Gold Index dropped 1.1% and the TSX Venture Exchange, Canada’s largest junior exploration bourse, gave back 0.40% with the advancers edging out the decliners by a 355 to 353 margin on volume of 148 million shares traded.

The big board equities lost ground for a second straight day as higher than expected yields in a United States Treasury auction of five-year notes had investors running for the exits during Wednesday trading on the Canadian markets. For the tale of the tape, the TSX Exchange lost 0.59%, while the TSX Gold Index rallied 3.1% and the TSX Venture Exchange, Canada’s largest junior exploration bourse, surged 2.86% with the advancers swamping the decliners by a 428 to 327 margin on volume of 182 million shares traded.

With the tax loss selling season now in the rear view mirror, the Canadian Markets continued to rebound during Tuesday trading. For the tale of the tape, the TSX Exchange added 2.24%, while the TSX Gold Index was the lone loser falling 2% and the TSX Venture Exchange, Canada’s largest junior exploration bourse, tacked on 4.05% with the advancing issuers beating out the decliners by a 552 to 224 margin on volume of 145 million shares traded.

The bulls and the bears battled hard for supremacy throughout Tuesday trading on the Canadian Markets with the bulls eventually coming out on top of the big board and the bears winning the day once again over on the junior bourse. For the tale of the tape, the TSX Exchange added 0.46%, while the TSX Gold Index dropped 0.8% and the TSX Venture Exchange, Canada’s largest junior exploration bourse, lost 4.52% with the declining issuers outpacing the advancers by a 543 to 290 margin on volume of 169 million shares traded.
