Whatever element you use, the binding energy of the nucleus is released, and mostly goes via reactor cooling water, into the environment, as heat. The global warming problem is not addressed by any nuclear technology. Most alternative energy schemes are naive attempts to circumvent the 2nd law of thermodynamics. Thorium is not a solution.
